Ds4windows makes the pc think its an xbox controller so that you can play games not on steam that doesnt support it (and before steam started supporting it).

DS4Windows simply tricks the computer to think that the gamepad connected to the computer is an Xbox Controller and not a PS4 Controller.

DS4 can still be used, but its not a necessity if youre playing on steam.

So if you are primarily playing through steam, you probably dont need DS4 anymore or at least only launch it when you need it.

You can also make a desktop configuration, but thats less useful.

Share Report Save level 1 1 year ago Hi man I use a dualshock 4 myself and I know this is a bit strange: You dont need any software but steam if youre only playing steam games; If the game has support for dualshock 4 (Nioh, Dead Cells, etc) you have to uncheck the playstation 4 controller option on steam controller settings.

In my experience this option always translate the inputs to the Xbox buttons.

So only turn this on if the game doesnt support dualshock by default (in this cases ull have to get used to xbox button symbols).
